If you press the button with the door open, it does nothing. Get in the backseat, close all the doors, and wait for the cabin lights to go out. Then press the rear light buttons to turn them off. I figured this out camping this weekend with my kids messing with the lights. Nov 16, 2021.

Year, Model & Trim Level. 2000 Mounty. April 27, 2010. #4. Not that I am aware of. Try rotating the thumb wheel --near the light switch. All the way up is "dome lights on" while rotating it down should turn them off. ( might be the other way around-) It will also dim the cluster lights.
First check is if the dome light comes on. If not, check the door switch, and the wiring between the door and the A pillar for a broken wire ( F150 this is a Black w/ yellow wire ). Second, in the driver's side door sill, under the trim plate, there is a splice in there, that is only in tape.
